The 'Killer' was at its most exciting at the end of lap 1, when Susan
just failed in a heroic bid to overcome a cruel handicap.  She almost
eliminated Roger and even Jon, who started 9 seconds ahead of her, was
briefly in danger.  Gareth, carrying an injury, went out after lap 2.
Alan, under the mistaken impression he had already caught Nick, went out
after lap 3.
