Only four starters for The Killer: Castel off 67s handicap, closely chased by Nick (75s), 
then a sizeable gap to Pete (128) and Roger (139). Because of the low numbers there were
just two eliminations, at 400m and 800m.
 
Although he gained a few seconds, Roger was never going to catch 11s on Pete in just one 
lap and duly departed first. However Nick was running scared and passed Castel on lap one; 
Castel, thinking that this meant she was eliminated, stopped at the end of the lap. Not 
until Roger arrived and informed her otherwise did she restart, but by then Pete was long 
gone so the crowd was deprived of what promised to be the best race of the day, Pete trying 
to catch a minute on Castel / Nick within two laps.
 
With Castel eliminated at lap two, Pete was able to coast past Nick late in lap 3 and duly 
took the victory in 5:31.2, 15 seconds quicker than he managed in the Comic Relief mile.
